My Favourites!

Throughout the years of elementary school, I would always pick up the scholastic book order sheets from my teachers. I loved reading books, and my favourites were all by Robert Munsch. Out of his many books, I think I've read "The Paperbag Princess" more then a hundred times. Elizabeth the princess was to marry a handsome prince, however, a dragon decides different. He steals her prince, burns her clothes with his fiery breath, and threatens to eat the both of them if she doesn't leave him alone. This story always created anticipation while I read because I wanted to get to end and see if she would defeat the dragon! I recently read the story to my younger cousin, and I still LOVE it! Mr. Munsch has a great sense of humor, and makes this story enjoyable for all ages.

When I'm often bored out of my skull with nothing to do at home, I like to search Youtube for something comical. About a year ago, I came across a British girl's page and looked through her videos. She had a whole series up called "Skins." It was the latest craze in England, so I started watching the first episode to see if it was anything good. It didn't take very long for me to get sucked right into the series, and I finished it in a few days. The show was based on one group of friends but each episode focussed on one person at a time. Their teenage drama was blown so far out of proportion that the show became quite interesting. British humor and slang also made this show so amusing for me to watch! Skins has definitely earned the title of the European version of "Gossip Girl."

Last summer, I spent a lot of my nights outside reading books and magazines. One of the books that I picked up and finished is called "Lovely Bones." The story was about a young girl who gets raped and murder one afternoon by her neighbor, only a few houses down from her own. After disposing her body perfectly, the police had no lead to a killer so they eventually gave up on the case. The young girls father has a gut feeling that it was this neighbor so he begs one of the officers to stay on the case as they work together to unravel the mystery. The story is written from the dead girls perspective as she watches her family heal their wounds and search for the killer. I didn't know what to expect while reading, which kept me set on finishing the novel. It also brought to my attention that no matter how well you think you know someone and how normal they look, you should always be aware of your surroundings.

One of my favourite movies while growing up was definitely "Jumanji"! Watching the kids play the game was always so entertaining! I remember the first time I watched it, and seeing the monsoon and the insect attack made me so nervous. I asked my mom a multiple amount of times if she had a hidden game like this one somewhere in the house because I was so up for playing it. :)

My most recent obsession started at the end of summer. Dr. McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) totally stole my heart and I've been hooked since then. Even though he's old enough to be my father (kinda gross, I know) he is still a total BABE! The fluctuating romance and heartbreak between him and Merideth Grey was easy for me to relate to. I even somewhat enjoyed watching the surgeries that had been successful, yet watching the deaths in the show weren't as enjoyable. Completely ADDICTING show!
